ECURES Meeting 2014

December 4 in Brussels

The next regular ECURES Assembly, including the election of a new Board, will take place in 2015 in Wroclaw/Poland. 15 Members attending the annual Compendium conference held December 4/5, 2014 met to discuss upcoming issues during a side event organised in Brussels.  In particular, new project opportunities, the organisation and financing of ECURES activities, the new website features and the future of the Compendium were on the agenda.

Rethinking Museums & Sustainable Development for the Global Profession

Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, October 21-25, 2014

The International Council of Museums (ICOM-ICTOP), together with the  International Institute for the Inclusive Museum and other partners, announced its annual conference in Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, October 21-25, 2014: Rethinking Museums & Sustainable Development for the Global Profession. Topics include: Postcolonial museology; appropriate capacity building; regional engagement.

8th International Conference on Cultural Policy Research

University of Hildesheim, September 9-12, 2014

The 8th International Conference on Cultural Policy Research is scheduled at the University of Hildesheim (Germany), September 9-12, 2014. The conference is open to scientists and students from all disciplines (expected are original academic contribution to cultural policy research). Individual and panel session proposals are possible. Research Conference Diversity, Margins and Dialogue

The international research conference on "Diversity, Margins and Dialogue" has been organized by the Dept. of Sociology, University of Pune, on January, 2 – 4, 2014. 2. International Cultural Administration Conference

July 11-13, 2014 Beijing (China)

With the aim to promote international exchanges and cooperation among Chinese and foreign cultural scholars, entrepreneurs and administrators, and to promote the development in cultural management disciplines, the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) organized the 2. International Cultural Administration Conference in Beijing (China), July 11-13, 2014. Central topic: "Cultural Development and Public Administration in Times of Globalization".

Sixth Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture

August 12-13, 2014, Port-au-Prince, Haiti

The Sixth Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture was held August 12-13, 2014, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The panels focused on issues of cultural entrepreneurship, local development through culture and links between tourism and culture.  The ERICarts Institute could designate special guests/observers – see invitation.

ECURES Members' Assembly 2012 in Helsinki

The 10th Members' Assembly of the European Association of Cultural Researchers e.V. (ECURES) took place 29 June 2012 at the House of the Estates in Helsinki (Finland). As practised before in Strasbourg, Berlin, Amsterdam, Budapest and Zurich, the Assembly was held in connection with the annual Meeting of Compendium experts.

The Assembly was attended by 20 members; they discussed, inter alia (see Minutes here):

- The role of ECURES in the governance of the ERICarts Institute and new activities;
- Supporting and protective functions for the Compendium community of experts;
-
Participation in the design and editing of the new CWE HOTopics debate space; and
- A Forum of Young Researchers, to be held in Vienna, 2013.

The Assembly admitted 32 new members (see Membership list) and elected a new Board, with Vesna Čopič (Ljubljana) as the new ECURES President. It thanked the previous members for their work, in particular Ritva Mitchell, who had acted as President for almost two decades and who wanted to step down due to her many other commitments and in order to support the current generation change in the Association.

The day before, June 28th, ECURES had offered a cocktail on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of first initiatives in Finland that inspired the creation of the Association and, a decade later, of the ERICarts Institute.
